Even today the site draws hundreds of thousands, though not to listen to the enigmatic prognostications of the priestesses. It’s a stunning site, situated on dramatic terraces below Mount Parnassus, where mythology tells us Apollo resided with his Muses. One still gets a sacred sense of the place today, mostly because of the beauty of the surroundings and the aura of the ruins. It is the past that current visitors seek, not the future.
